Fan Mail

SSMH has a groupie. A possibly insane groupie. It isn’t me.

I don’t know why I have to say that. but it isn’t. defenitely not. Honest. Evil Overlord’s Honour (you don’t expect me to use scout’s; honour do you!)

I’m stan from Klagaphagastan. I love you all. You are the biggest and bestest band in Klagaphagastan. In return for your greatness Klagaphagastan government like to offer you great gift of 100 sheep and a key to the village of Phatalkag. We hope you accept them. As we say in my country “llaga yi stonei” or in american I believe it means “keep on rockin’”.

Yours sincerely,

Ode to Orla!

In my haste on Wednesday I forgot to mention that Ronan’s sister Orla also graduated with a B.Eng. They even had a brother-sister pic in the Irish Examiner. Well, I didn’t quite forget, its just that Orla isn’t a member, or associated hanger on of the wireless access group.

In any case I got quite a telling off yesterday from various members of the Skehill clan for neglecting Orla.

So well done to Orla on her graduation. Here is a non-graduation related picture

Graduation

Ronan and Joe graduate with Ph.Ds. today, and Nicola with an M.Eng.

Billy, Barry and Kevin get B.Engs. and become proper postgrads ;-)

well done everyone

Jamie has updated his weblog and the ideasasylum main page and the silhouette are quite cool; although the descriptions leave a lot to be desired. While I would be the first to say “Jamie is eccentric”, I don’t think boring is an appropriate word, not when there are words like distracted and oblivious floating around just begging to be used. Clever would be another word but Jamie is far too self-depricating for that. Hilary’s description is spot on, especially the obsessive and compulsive part ;-) And also the lovely part of course.

Their photos are also accessable from the main page. Including some photos of me that have been accessed an oddly large number of times. This makes me feel guilty that I haven’t done anything with my photo collection yet. Thats not quite true – I have them heaped up in a pile somewhere – they are just not readily accessable.

neighbours

The people who moved in upstairs from us are ethnic. And they tend to cook late, generally between 8pm and 10pm, and they appear to be quite good cooks as well. So by the time I get home after college/aerobics apartment is usually full of various mouth-watering aromas, including garlic , onion, chili, cayenne, corriander, tumeric and lots more unidentifiable but hot and musty spices. The result of all this is, of course, cravings for hot and spicy Indian and Asian foods.

The neighbours above them appear to be hot girls. We haven’t formally met them just encounters and such on the stairs and street. They don’t appear to cook too much – nothing as overpowering as Indian food anyway. They can be quite loud though.

Shakesbeer in the park

A local acting school put on A Midsummer’s Night Dream in the People’s Park on Saturday, myself and ben and bens sister and mother wandered along. And it wasn’t half bad. It was better than that even. It was a bright sunny day and the park makes quite a good backdrop – we had to move around from act to act which was quite cool and made good use of different copses, bandstands and such in the park. Quite a lot of kids as well, some of home were persistently and annoyingly loud and sick.

And then we went for beer. and that was saturday.

On Sunday Ben played a gig in a local pub for a few hours. He had a shakey start (see saturday) , but once he settled in it went very well. The fact that at the beginning there were less than 15 people in the pub and we had all come to watch Ben probably helped him settle down. Later on the bar filled up with real people and eventually a vintage rugby team.

Afterwards we went for food and beer. and that was sunday

Monday was very warm to do an aerobics class. especially if one were to be hungover as well.

Changes

Some changes to the site. Same overall design and a couple of updated pictures. Must add more pics. Eventually I will get my publications page updated as well.

Comments etc on the new look are welcome.

UPDATE:

archive seems to be mostly broken. Must appeal for help (jamie) or just change to monthly archives, that should be easier to follow

archives are working properly now, although the index page is a big dirty hack!!!
