Munster did pretty well on Saturday :-)

In spite of a last ditch attempt to swing the vote for Armenia, monster rock triumphed on Sat. So Hurrah for Finland!

Been to see that movie. And I won’t bore people by repeating my thoughts on the whole phenomenon. I will even say a GOOD THING about it.

It was probably not as bad as Starship Troopers.

Feel free to quote me on that.

…and there is still nothing on TV.

Qutoe stolen from nev. We watched 2.5 hrs of TV last night, something starring Ray Winstone on TV3, which wasn’t that bad in spite of all the ads and an episode of CSI which was just terrible.

And speaking of terrible, we have tickets for that movie tonight…

So we got a TV

Ben moved out; leaving lots of stuff behind, and John moved in over the weekend.

And John brought a TV with him. So far we haven’t used it for much as we don’t have any remote control for it or an aerial. But someday this week the cable-guy is gong to call and then we’ll have a nice digital box with its own remote control. Hurrah!

Next Jamie and Hilary have to get a TV, we can’t be the only ones surrendering to the box.

One down. Lots to go

Mike Mulcachy has recevied news that his Masters Thesis is OK.

UL doesn’t do viva presentations for Masters Students, so barring a few corrections, Mike should be finished pretty soon.

The only thing worse than a stupid novel is people who take it seriously. And yes, yes, I get college mails too.

Dear Staff Member,

The next session of Café Theology takes place in Café Java, Catherine St. Limerick, on Wednesday 17th of May at 7pm. The speaker is columnist and author Mark Shea from California who is on tour in Ireland to answer the many untruths and fallacies of Dan Brown’s novel, The Da Vinci Code. Mark Shea is scheduled to make an appearance on the Late Late Show on Friday 12th as the film of the said book is due for release in Ireland around May 19th.

Mark is an engaging speaker who will be happy to take your questions (check out:

No admission charge! Just buy yourself a cup of something!
See you there!

And from their website

A double convert, Mark was raised as an agnostic pagan, became a non-denominational Evangelical Christian in 1979, and entered the Catholic Church in 1987.”

Somehow I don’t think its destined to be a night of frivolity and high jinks..

Blast from the past…

Thanks to Helen Larkin and an email cascade; it looks like there will be a Broadcom reunion of sorts in June. Which could be fun.

I imagine 5 years is enough time that everyone has got on with their lives so all the old bad memories are long gone and only happy fuzzy memeories of a bygone halcyon era remain.

Hmm. If Broadcom is closed nearly 5 years, then I am in UL almost the same length of time. I wonder if that counts as getting on with your life or not. Lets say it does…

Anyway the details are
Scruffy Murphys, 19.30, Sat 17 June 2006, for any ex-Broadcom people who read this blog but don’t get the mails. Or for anyone who just wants to come and gawk.
